The New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays will be continuing their MLB set on Tuesday from Tropicana Field.
In the Monday opener of this series, the Yankees banged out a 4-1 victory.
For Tuesday’s game, the Yankees will be sending out Luis Severino. Across his 186.1 innings and 18-8 record this year, Severino has a 3.38 ERA with 213 Ks.
Leading the way for the Yankees this year is Miguel Andujar, with 163 hits, 78 runs, 25 homers and 85 RBI entering this set. In the Monday game, Andujar had one hit.
Over on the Rays’ side, they're going with Jake Faria on Tuesday. Over 62.2 innings and a 4-3 record this year, Faria has a 5.17 ERA with 43 Ks.
Tampa’s leading hitter is Matt Duffy, who entered this set on 148 hits, 58 runs and 44 RBI. In game one, Duffy was 0-for-2.
The Yankees are 22-6 in their last 28 Tuesday games and 7-2 in their last nine in game two of a series. The under is 6-1 in their last seen Tuesday games and they’re 12-4 in their last 17 versus the AL East.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 9-1 in their last 10 in game two of a series and 10-4 in their last 14 Tuesday games. The under is 21-7 in the Rays’ last 28 Tuesday games and 24-10-1 in their last 35 in game two of a series.
It’s a shame Tampa plays in such a strong division; otherwise they’d likely be a playoff team. The Rays have been playing pretty well all year, and their “opener” pitching strategy has worked out much better than I thought it would. With Severino on the mound (and finally coming off a nice game), I think I like the Yankees to take this one.
