|Date & Time||Sunday May 24, 2015, 1:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Tampa Bay Rays +115 / Oakland Athletics -125 --- Over/Under: 7
The Tampa Bay Rays battle the Oakland Athletics at Tropicana Field in Sunday action.
The Oakland Athletics are needing a few wins while avoiding losing streaks of any length. The Athletics had dropped eight of nine before jumping all over Tampa Bay for a 5-0 victory on Saturday. Starter Kendall Graveman tossed the best game of his young career with six scoreless frames with three hits and a pair of walks allowed to even his record at 2-2. The A’s racked up ten hits and walked seven times with Sam Fuld driving in two while Eric Sogard went 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. The Athletics turn to ace Sonny Gray in Sunday’s finale’ at Tropicana Field. Gray wasn’t his usual stingy self in a 6-4 defeat at Houston where he gave up three runs on seven hits and a trio of BB in five frames.
The Tampa Bay Rays have been playing the best baseball of any team in the American League East and have taken over first in the division. The Rays two game winning streak ended Saturday with neither the arms or bats putting up much of a fight. Nathan Karns kept the Rays in the game with a pair of runs plated on seven hits through 5.2 frames but the pen allowed three runs to put this game out of reach. The bats totaled six hits and walked three times with David DeJesus going 2-2 with a base on balls. The Rays send Erasmo Ramirez to the hill to oppose visiting Oakland on Sunday afternoon. Ramirez has logged back to back victories with a combined three runs allowed on three hits and four BB in ten innings.
The under is 7-1-3 in Oakland’s last 11 on astroturf and the Athletics are 16-35 in their last 51 overall while the over is 33-16-4 in their last 53 overall. The under is 18-7-1 in Tampa Bay’s last 26 overall and the over is 7-3 in their last 10 Sunday games while the Rays are 5-11 in their last 16 Sunday games. The under is 7-1-2 in the last 10 meetings and Oakland are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Tampa Bay. I thought this game was the best chance for Oakland to get a win but we shall see…
