Seattle Mariners (38-23) at Tampa Bay Rays (28-32)
|Date & Time||Friday June 8, 2018, 7:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Tampa Bay Rays +130 / Seattle Mariners -140 --- Over/Under: 8
Out at Tropicana Field on Friday, the Seattle Mariners and the Tampa Bay Rays will be continuing their weekend MLB series.
In the Thursday opener, Seattle staved off three runs from the Rays in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-4 victory.
For Friday’s game, the Mariners will be sending out LHP Marco Gonzales. In his 66.2 innings and 6-3 record this year, Gonzales has a 3.38 ERA with 59 Ks and 17 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the year on the Rays’ roster is Jean Segura with 83 hits, 45 runs and 39 RBI. In the opener, Segura put up two hits and a run.
Over on the Rays’ side, they’re going with Wilmer Font on Friday. Across 23.0 innings and an 0-2 mark the season, Font has a 9.78 ERA with 18 Ks and eight walks.
CJ Cron leads the Rays this season with 61 hits, 33 runs, 13 homers and 33 RBI entering this set. In the Thursday game, Cron had an 0-for-3 night.
The Mariners are 10-4 in the last 14 Friday games and 6-0 in Gonzales’ last six starts in game two of a series. seattle is also 6-2 in Gonzales’ last eight starts and 1-4 in his last five road starts versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the under is 4-1 in the Rays’ last five during game two of a series and 4-0-1 in their last five home games versus a left-handed starter. The under is also 4-0-1 in the Rays’ last five games versus a left-handed starter, and they’re 0-7 in their last seven overall.
Gonzales has been pitching well lately, with three quality starts and just one earned run over his last four appearances. Font’s had some real stinkers this year, but to his credit he’s only given up two hits and one earned run in his last four relief outings. Still, I have to pick the Mariners here.
