Tampa Bay, Florida
Tampa Bay Rays -145 / Texas Rangers +135 O/U: 8.5
The Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays will match up on the MLB diamond Friday to kick off their series.
The Rangers are coming off a three-game set versus the Tigers. Texas took Tuesday’s game 5-3 and Wednesday’s 4-1. In the finale Thursday, the Rangers won 3-1.
For the Friday matchup, the Rangers will be sending out Lance Lynn for the start. Across his 100.0 innings and 9-4 record this year, Lynn has a 4.32 ERA with 108 Ks and 25 BBs.
Over on the Rays’ side, they just finished up against the Twins. Tampa fell 9-4 and 6-4 in the first two games respectively, then on Thursday Tampa won in a wild 18-inning marathon 5-2.
For Friday’s game, the Rays will be going with Yonny Chirinos. So far this year, Chirinos is 7-3 with a 3.00 ERA and 71 strikeouts.
The Rangers are 4-1 in their last five in game one of a series and 4-9 in their last 13 Friday games. The under is 6-0 in Texas’ last six in game one of a series and 10-1-1 in the last 12 Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 0-4 in their last four in game one of a series and 6-1 in their last seven after a road trip of a week or more. Tampa is 19-8 in their last 27 versus the AL West and 3-7 in their last 10 home games.
Lynn had a nice string of eight consecutive quality starts going earlier this month, posting a 4-2 record during that span. Things comparatively got a little shakier in Lynn’s last appearance June 22 versus the White Sox (five earned; six hits; 7.0 innings) but he still came away with a win in a 6-5 result.
I like Lynn to come out firing again here and put together some solid innings. I’m going Rangers.
