The Texas Rangers have won nine of their last 11 games when scoring four or more runs. Jesse Chavez gets the ball, and he is 3-2 with a 2.79 ERA and 48 strikeouts this season. Chavez is 0-1 with a 2.79 ERA and 20 strikeouts in his career against the Rays.
The Tampa Bay Rays need a win after losing eight of their last 12 games. The Rays have scored 10 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last nine games. The Tampa Bay Rays have won five of their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. Tommy Pham leads the Rays with 84 hits and 34 RBI while Avisail Garcia and Brandon Lowe have combined for 152 hits and 84 RBI. Blake Snell gets the ball, and he is 4-7 with a 5.01 ERA and 105 strikeouts this season. Snell is 2-0 with a 0.79 ERA and 14 strikeouts in his career against the Rangers.
The Rangers are 9-4 in their last 13 during game 3 of a series, 5-2 in their last 7 vs. American League East and 4-0 in Chavezs last 4 starts. The Rays are 20-8 in their last 28 Sunday games, 1-5 in their last 6 during game 3 of a series and 20-7 in Snells last 27 home starts. The Rangers are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Tampa Bay and 1-4 in the last 5 meetings. The over is 4-1-1 in Snells last 6 starts overall. The under is 5-0 in Rangers last 5 overall.
Chavez has allowed just two earned runs in his last 20 innings and has a 1.37 ERA and .222 allowed batting average through 26.1 innings on the road. Snell is obviously a quality pitcher, but he's given up 30 hits and 23 earned runs in his last 17.1 innings and that includes 13 runs in his last 3.2 innings. The Rangers can swing the bats and if Snell is going to continue to get too much of the plate, the nightmare could very well continue. There's some nice value in the Rangers and the big plus money here based on Snell's recent hiccups.
