The Line: Tampa Bay Rays -120 / Toronto Blue Jays +100 --- Over/Under: 8
Down at Tropicana Field on Tuesday, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays will be continuing their MLB set.
In the Monday opener, the Rays broke open a tight game in the seventh on the way to an 8-4 victory.
For Tuesday’s game, the Blue Jays will be bringing out LHP Jaime Garcia. In his 53.1 innings and 2-4 record this year, Garcia has a 5.57 ERA with 50 Ks and 24 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Jays this year is Kevin Pillar, who entered this set with 65 hits, 33 runs and 27 RBI. On Monday, Pillar went hitless.
Over on the Rays’ side, they will be going with Ryne Stanek on Tuesday. In his 14.1 innings and 1-1 record this year, Stanek has a 3.14 ERA with 18 Ks.
CJ Cron led the way for the Rays entering this series with 63 hits, 35 runs, 15 homers and 36 RBI. In the opener, Cron plated a run.
The Blue Jays are 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games and 1-6 in their last seven during game two of a series. Toronto is also 1-4 in Garcia’s last five road starts and 4-1 in his last five starts on turf.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 3-8 in their last 11 Tuesday games and the under is 5-1 in their last six Tuesday games. The under is 5-1 in the Rays’ last six in game two of a series and 5-1-1 in their last seven home games versus a left-handed starter.
Garcia has been a mixed bag lately. Over his last six starts, Garcia has given up 16 earned in three of them and three earned in the other trio. It’s also worth noting that those three bad starts Garcia had were all on the road. That doesn’t bode well for my Jays confidence here, so I’m going Rays.
