Tampa Bay, Florida
Tampa Bay Rays -235 / Toronto Blue Jays +216 O/U: 8
The Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays will match up on the MLB diamond Monday to kick off their set.
The Blue Jays are coming out of a set versus the Orioles. Toronto took the first pair of games in that one 11-2 and 5-2, then lost 6-4 Saturday. On Sunday the Blue Jays fell 6-5.
On Monday, the Jays will go with Jacob Waguespack in the start. Waguespack is 2-1 this year with a 4.80 ERA and 24 Ks.
Over on the Rays’ side, they just played the Marlins. Tampa won the Saturday game 8-6, and then in the Sunday matchup the Rays won 7-2.
Tampa will send out Charlie Morton in the start Monday. Morton is 12-3 this season with a 2.78 ERA and 165 strikeouts.
The Blue Jays are 5-17 in their last 22 in game one of a series and 3-7 in their last 10 on turf. Toronto is 2-7 in the last nine Monday games and the over is 8-0 in their last eight Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Rays are 22-5 in their last 27 Monday games and 5-2 in their last seven in game one of a series. The over is 6-1-2 in the Rays’ last nine in game one of a series and 5-2-2 in their last nine Monday games.
This will be Waguespack’s third time facing the Rays this season, and it’ll only be his seventh appearance at this level. Combined against Tampa in those games, he’s given up five earned on nine his in nine innings.
As for Morton, he just keeps chugging along and is 6-1 at the Trop. I’m going with the Rays here.
