MLB | Toronto Blue Jays (70-67) at Tampa Bay Rays (67-72)

The Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays face off on Wednesday at Tropicana Field as they continue their series.

The Tampa Bay Rays had no answers for the Jays on Tuesday as they took the loss at home. James Loney and Ryan Hanigan each had hits and Yunel Escobar had two walks as the Rays scored two runs on two hits. Starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson had an off night as he allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out two over 3.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-3 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Rays start Chris Archer who as a loss and two no decisions in his last two starts. For the season Archer has allowed 152 hits and 61 earned runs while striking out 150 over 161.1 innings for an 8-7 record and a 3.40 ERA.

The Toronto Blue Jays jumped all over the Rays on Tuesday blowing them out for the win. Jose Reyes, Dioner Navarro, and Danny Valencia each hit home runs as the Blue Jays scored eight runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher R.A. Dickey allowed 2 hits and 2 runs while striking out 6 over 7.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 11-12 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Blue Jays start Marcus Stroman who got the win last time out to end a three decision losing streak. For the season Stroman has allowed 96 hits and 43 earned runs while striking out 85 over 99.2 innings for an 8-5 record and a 3.88 ERA.

Tampa Bay is 3-10 against a right-handed starter, 1-5 at home against a team with a winning record, and 1-5 in Archer’s last six starts. Toronto is 4-9 against a team with a losing record, 3-9 in their last 12 road games, and 1-5 in Stroman’s last six road games. Toronto is 18-47 in their last 65 games at Tampa Bay.

I am expecting a good game which means not such a great game to wager on but I will take the Blue Jays to get it done again.
