The Line: Texas Rangers +155 / Arizona Diamondbacks -165 --- Over/Under: 10
Globe Life Park will come alive again on Monday evening, as the Arizona Diamondbacks visit the Texas Rangers in MLB action.
Arizona just finished up a set against the Reds this weekend. After falling in the first two games 3-0 and 6-3, on Sunday the Diamondbacks managed a 9-2 win.
The Diamondbacks will be trotting out RHP Zack Greinke on Monday. Across his 148.2 innings and 12-7 record this year, Greinke has a 2.89 ERA with 152 Ks.
Heading into the week, David Peralta led the Diamondbacks on 127 hits, 57 runs, 20 homers and 59 RBI. On Sunday, Peralta had a solo homer in the ninth and two runs.
As for the Rangers, they just finished up with the Yankees. Texas dropped two of the first three games, then on Sunday they fell again 7-2.
Bartolo Colon will be taking the mound for the Rangers on Monday. In his 130.1 innings and 6-10 mark this year, Colon has a 5.18 ERA with 72 Ks.
Leading the way for the Rangers in hitting this season is Shin-Soo Choo, who entered the week on 119 hits, 68 runs, 20 homers and 56 RBI. On Sunday, Choo went 0-for-4.
The Diamondbacks are 13-6 in their last 19 games versus a team with a losing record and 7-3 in their last 10 inter-league games versus a team with a losing record. The over is 7-2 in the Diamondbacks’ last nine Monday games and 15-6-1 in their last 22 during game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 1-5 in Colon’s last six starts and 1-4 in his last five starts in game one of a series. Texas is 4-11 in their last 15 Monday games and 2-6 in Colon’s last eight starts with five days’ rest.
It’s fun to watch the old-timer Colon do his thing on the mound, but in all honesty his numbers just aren’t good this year. Colon is simply giving up way too many runs this season, and going against Greinke I’m not confident he’ll be able to do much of anything statistically well. I’m going Diamondbacks.
