Texas Rangers -137 / Baltimore Orioles +127 O/U: 11
The Baltimore Orioles and the Texas Rangers will meet up on the MLB diamond for game one of their series on Tuesday.
Baltimore just finished up a weekend set versus the Giants. The Orioles took game one of that series 9-6, but fell 8-2 on Saturday and 8-1 on Sunday in the finale.
For the Tuesday game, the O’s will be sending out Dylan Bundy for the start. Across his 59.0 innings and 2-6 record this year, Bundy has a 4.58 ERA with 60 Ks and 21 BBs.
Texas just played the Royals this weekend in a four-game set. The Rangers dropped game one on Thursday 4-2 in that one, but then came back for victories 6-2 Friday, 6-2 Saturday and 4-1 on Sunday.
On Tuesday, Texas will be going with Drew Smyly on the mound. In his 38.2 innings and 1-3 record so far, Smyly has a 6.98 ERA with 39 Ks and 27 BBs.
Baltimore is 17-39 in their last 56 Tuesday games and 15-36 in their last 51 versus the AL West. The Orioles are 14-40 in their last 54 overall and 31-93 in their last 124 road games.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 5-1 in their last six overall and 6-16 in their last 22 Tuesday games. Texas is 2-6 in their last eight versus the AL East and 1-5 in their last six after an off day.
Bundy has been fairly consistent on the whole for the Orioles this year. He hasn’t given up more than three earned runs in any of his last four starts and has gone at least 5.0 innings in each of those.
As for Smyly, he had a couple of decent starts (five earned in 10.0 innings) but blew up as a reliever in his last appearance with seven earned on eight hits in 5.0 innings.
This isn’t too bad of a pitching matchup really, and with Bundy on the mound it seems like a decent spot to take the O’s. That said, Baltimore just doesn’t win games behind Bundy (or anyone else, really) so I’m going Rangers in a tight one here.
