MLB | Boston Red Sox (22-9) at Texas Rangers (13-20)
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Coming up from Globe Life Park on Saturday, the Boston Red Sox and the Texas Rangers will be picking up their MLB series once again.

In the Thursday opener, Texas pummeled Boston 11-5. On Friday, the Red Sox struck back with a solid 5-1 win, holding the Rangers to just four hits.

For the Saturday game, the Sox will be bringing out lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. In his 26.1 innings and 3-0 record this year, Rodriguez has a 4.78 ERA with 29 Ks and 11 BBs.

Boston’s JD Martinez led the team coming into Friday with 39 hits, 18 runs and 24 RBI to his credit. On Friday, Martinez ripped a solo homer.

Over on the Rangers’ side, they’re relying on lefty Cole Hamels on Saturday. Over 39.2 innings and a 1-4 record this year, Hamels has a 4.08 ERA with 47 Ks and 16 BBs.

Heading into the Friday game, the Rangers’ top hitter was Nomar Mazara with 35 hits, 17 runs, six homers and 22 RBI. On Friday, Mazara had two of the Rangers’ four hits with a double and a solo homer.

The Red Sox are 21-6 in their last 27 during game three of a series and 7-2 in their last nine Saturday games. Boston is also 5-0 in Rodriguez’s last five starts and 2-5 in his last seven Saturday starts.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are 3-7 in their last 10 in game three of a series and 7-3 in Hamels’ last 10 Saturday starts. Texas is also 0-5 in Hamels’ last five home starts and 0-5 in his last five starts.

Rodriguez started out the year very well but faltered a bit in his last outing with five earned on five hits in 4.0 innings. Hamels has been a little choppy here and there, but overall has pitched fairly well. This should be a pretty good matchup on the mound. Going by the current trends as far as win/loss with these pitchers, however, I’m picking Boston.

Boston Red Sox -150
