The Line: Texas Rangers -158 / Chicago White Sox +148 --- Over/Under: 10
On Sunday afternoon from Globe Life Park, the Chicago White Sox and the Texas Rangers will be finishing up their MLB series.
In the Friday opener, the Rangers took an 11-3 win. On Saturday, Texas was playing it close early but roared ahead with seven runs in the eighth on the way to a 13-4 blowout.
For the Sunday game, the Sox will be bringing out RHP Reynaldo Lopez. In his 94.0 innings and 3-5 record this year, Lopez has a 3.73 ERA with 67 Ks and 39 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Sox this year is Jose Abreu, entering the weekend with 84 hits, 39 runs, 12 homers and 47 RBI. On Saturday, Abreu had one hit.
Over on the Rangers’ side, they’re going with Cole Hamels on Sunday. Across 97.1 innings and a 4-6 record this year, Hamels has a 3.61 ERA with 97 Ks and 37 BBs.
Shin-Soo Choo is tops on the Rangers’ offense, entering the weekend on 89 hits, 49 runs, 15 homers and 39 RBI. On Saturday, Jurickson Profar put up two hits, two runs and two RBI.
The Sox are 5-2 in their last seven Sunday games and 0-4 in their last four in game three of a series. Chicago is also 2-5 in Lopez’s last seven starts and 1-5 in Lopez’s last six road starts.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 6-21 in their last 27 Sunday games and 2-8 in Hamels’ last 10 home starts. Texas is 0-4 in Hamels’ last four Sunday starts and 1-4 in his last five starts in game three of a series.
Lopez had a good run of games going for a while but has given up eight earned over his last two starts in 10.2 innings. As for Hamels, eh’s got two good starts and two sketchy starts in his last four, giving up one earned in the good ones and nine in the not-so-good ones. I’m not thrilled with either pitcher or team right now but I’m giving the Rangers a slight advantage.
