The Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers will be meeting up on the MLB diamond to kick off the second half of the season on Thursday.

The Astros stand at 57-33 on the season thus far, logging a 34-19 record on the road as well. they’re 7-3 in their last 10 games heading into the break.

Houston will be going with Framber Valdez in the start Thursday. Valdez has a 3-4 record with a 4.57 ERA this season so far.

Over on the Rangers’ side, they’re sitting at 48-42 this season, and hold a 29-17 record at home. Texas has gone 4-6 across their last 10 games and are looking for some momentum coming out of the All-Star festivities.

Taking the hill for the Rangers this Thursday will be Lance Lynn. Across his 115.0 innings and 11-4 mark so far, Lynn has a 3.91 ERA with 123 Ks and 26 BBs.

The Astros are 39-12 in their last 51 versus the AL West and 49-19 in their last 68 in game one of a series. Houston is 39-19 in their last 58 overall and 3-9 in their last 12 Thursday games.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are 4-1 in their last five Thursday games and 2-6 in their last eight overall. Texas is 2-7 in their last nine games after an off day and 4-0 in Lynn’s last four starts.

Lynn has been putting up some nice numbers as of late. He’s got consecutive quality starts to his credit, and allowed just 12 hits in 15.0 innings with two earned and 15 strikeouts in that time.

I’m still not super-confident about the Rangers right now, but at home with Lynn on the hill I think they’ve got a good shot to steal one here.

Texas Rangers +111
