|Date & Time||Tuesday April 10, 2018, 8:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Texas Rangers +121 / Los Angeles Angels -131 --- Over/Under: 9.5
The Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers meet Tuesday in MLB action at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
The Los Angeles Angels look for another victory after winning eight of their last 10 games. The Angels have scored 17 runs in their last three games and six or more runs in six of their last nine games. The Los Angeles Angels have won six straight games when scoring more than three runs. Andrelton Simmons leads the Angels with 17 hits and seven RBI while Zack Cozart and Albert Pujols have combined for 26 hits and 10 RBI. Tyler Skaggs gets the ball, and he is 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA and 10 strikeouts this season. Skaggs is 2-2 with a 6.57 ERA and 38 strikeouts in his career against the Rangers.
The Texas Rangers need a victory here after losing seven of their last 10 games. The Rangers have allowed 16 runs in their last three games and six or more runs in six of their last 10 games. The Texas Rangers have lost eight straight games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Elvis Andrus leads the Rangers with 17 hits and five RBI while Shin-Soo Choo and Nomar Mazara have combined for 26 hits and eight RBI. Martin Perez gets the ball, and he is 1-0 with a 5.06 ERA and one strikeout this season. Perez is 4-4 with a 3.27 ERA and 36 strikeouts in his career against the Angels.
The Angels are 14-5 in their last 19 during game 2 of a series, 20-7 in their last 27 Tuesday games and 4-0 in Skaggs' last 4 starts. The Rangers are 4-0 in their last 4 during game 2 of a series, 5-1 in Perezs last 6 home starts and 10-2 in Perezs last 12 starts. The under is 7-3-2 in the last 12 meetings in Texas.
We're getting plus money with a Rangers team that doesn't lose often when Perez is pitching. The numbers aren't always sexy, but since August 9, the Rangers are 10-2 when Perez takes the hill. The current Rangers are also hitting .310 against Skaggs with three homers and 12 RBI in 84 at bats. I know it's tough to bet against the Angels in their current form, but the value is with the Rangers and the plus money based on the recent success with Perez pitching.
