The Texas Rangers will host the Los Angeles Angels in MLB action from Globe Life Park on Tuesday in MLB activity.
In the Monday opener, the Angels banged out three runs in the seventh inning and hung on for a 3-1 win.
For the Tuesday game, the Angels will be bringing out LHP Andrew Heaney. In his 152.0 innings and 8-8 mark this year, Heaney has a 4.09 ERA with 144 Ks and 39 BBs.
The Angels’ lead hitter this year is Andrelton Simmons, who entered this set on 139 hits, 58 runs and 65 RBI. On Monday, Simmons whiffed 0-for-4.
Over on the Rangers’ side, they’re going with Mike Minor on Tuesday. In his 135.0 innings and 10-7 record this season, Minor has a 4.33 ERA with 111 Ks and 31 BBs.
Tops in hitting this year for the Rangers is Shin-Soo Choo, who came into this series on 136 hits, 78 runs, 21 homers and 61 RBI. Choo had one hit on Monday.
The Angels are 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series and 4-0 in Heaney’s last four starts with four days’ rest. LA is also 4-1 in Heaney’s last five road starts and 8-2 in his last 10 starts.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 1-8 in their last nine Tuesday games and 4-1 in Minor’s last five starts. Texas is 2-6 in Minor’s last eight starts versus the AL West and 1-9 in their last 10 versus a left-handed starter.
After a rough two games where he allowed 11 earned in 11.1 innings, Heaney had a nice outing in Houston his last time up with 6.0 innings and zero earned. As for Minor, he’s got four quality starts in his last five, and has given up just two earned in his last two starts in 12.0 innings. I’m going with the at-home Rangers here.
