The Line: Texas Rangers +113 / Minnesota Twins -123 --- Over/Under: 10.5
The Texas Rangers will host the Minnesota Twins at Globe Life Park on Saturday as they continue their weekend MLB series.
In the Friday opener, the Twins came up with eight runs in the fifth inning to bag a 10-7 win.
For Saturday’s game the Twins will be going with Jose Berrios. In his 163.2 innings and 11-9 mark this year, Berrios has a 3.74 ERA with 165 Ks and 46 BBs.
The Twins’ top hitter this year is the injured Eddie Rosario, who entered this set on 154 hits, 83 runs, 22 homers and 74 RBI. On Friday, Joe Mauer logged two hits and a run.
Over on the Rangers’ side, they’re rolling with Yovani Gallardo on Saturday. Across 67.1 innings and a 7-3 record this season, Gallardo has a 6.01 ERA with 42 Ks and 33 BBs.
The top hitter for the Rangers is Shin-Soo Choo, who came into this set on 135 hits, 75 runs, 21 homers and 60 RBI. In the opener, Choo plated a run.
The Twins are 7-1 in their last eight in game two of a series and 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games. Minnesota is also 4-0 in Berrios’ last four starts with five days’ rest and 5-18 in his last 23 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series and 7-1 in Gallardo’s last eight home starts. Texas is 5-1 in Gallardo’s last six Saturday starts and 20-6 in his last 26 starts.
Over his last four starts, Berrios is 0-1 and has allowed a combined 11 earned runs in 17.2 innings. As for Gallardo, he’s done pretty well in his last pair of outings with five earned in 11.0 innings, but is also 0-1 in that time. I’m not super-thrilled about either pitcher or team here, but I’m going to count on Gallardo holding the game together and helping the Rangers get a win.
