The Line: Texas Rangers +167 / New York Yankees -177 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Down at Globe Life Park on Monday, the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers will be meeting up to kick off their MLB series.
The Yankees are coming off a set versus the Royals. After losing Friday, New York took both the weekend games to win the series.
Pitching in the Monday game for the Yankees is Masahiro Tanaka. Over his 51.1 innings and 4-2 record this year, Tanaka has a 4.73 ERA with 47 Ks and 10 BBs.
Coming into the week, Aaron Judge led the Yankees with 46 hits, 33 runs, 11 homers and 35 RBI. On Sunday, Tyler Austin was the hero with a pair of home runs and four RBI.
As for the Rangers, they just finished up against the Sox this weekend. Texas took the Sunday game 3-0 after losing two of the first three.
For the Monday game, the Rangers are sending out veteran Bartolo Colon. Over his 51.0 innings and 2-1 record, Colon has a 2.82 ERA with 32 Ks and four BBs.
The Rangers’ top hitter entering the week was Nomar Mazara with 50 hits, 27 runs, 10 homers and 27 RBI. On Sunday, Mazara went 0-for-4.
The Yankees are 8-2 in their last 10 road games and 23-8 in their last 31 Monday games. New York is also 7-3 in their last 10 during game one of a series and 4-0 in Tanaka’s last four starts.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 1-6 in their last seven Monday games and 4-14 in their last 18 during game one of a series. Texas is also 1-4 in their last five against the AL East and 9-24 in their last 33 home games.
Tanaka has some solid starts this year, but he’s also got some stinkers. He’s given up seven earned in his last 10.1 innings. As for Colon, he’s still plugging along and gave up zero earned on four hits in 7.2 innings his last time out. This might be a good spot to take the Rangers in a value pick.
