|Date & Time||Tuesday June 5, 2018, 8:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Texas Rangers +145 / Oakland Athletics -155 --- Over/Under: 10
The Oakland Athletics and the Texas Rangers will be meeting up at Globe Life Park on Tuesday to kick off their MLB series.
The A’s just finished up against the Royals this weekend. Oakland won Friday (16-0) and Sunday to take the series.
Oakland will be going with LHP Sean Manaea on Tuesday. In his 75.0 innings and 5-6 record this year, Manaea has a 3.60 ERA with 56 Ks and 14 BBs.
Jed Lowrie leads the A’s in hitting this year on 69 hits, 23 runs, nine homers and 42 RBI. Second is Marcus Semien with 64 hits, 36 runs and 24 RBI.
As for the Rangers, they played the Angels this weekend. Texas won on Saturday but lost the other two games of that set.
Texas is rolling out LHP Matt Moore for the start on Tuesday. Across 47.0 innings and a 1-5 record this season, Moore has a 7.85 ERA with 39 Ks and 23 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Rangers this year is Nomar Mazara with 63 hits, 35 runs, 14 homers and 39 RBI. Shin-Sio Choo is hitting well also with 61 hits, 35 runs and 24 RBI to his credit.
The A’s are 1-5 in the last seven Tuesday games and 1-6 in the last seven versus the AL West. Oakland is also 4-1 in Manaea’s last five road starts and 0-4 in his last four Tuesday starts.
Meanwhile, the Rangers are 13-27 in their last 40 home games and 13-5 in their last 18 games following an off day. Texas is 1-4 in Moore’s last five home starts and 1-4 in his last five starts versus the AL West.
It’s been a choppy set of games lately for Manaea, as he’s given up 14 earned over his last three outings in a span of 13.2 innings. As for Moore, he hasn’t been any better with 11 earned over his last 12.0 innings. This game could get out of hand in a hurry. I have to go with the A’s for the victory here, but the over might be the sensible way to go.
