MLB | Toronto Blue Jays (5-3) at Texas Rangers (3-6)

Down at Globe Life Park on Sunday, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers will be meeting up to finish their MLB series.

In the Friday opener, the Blue Jays managed an 8-5 victory. On Saturday, the Rangers struck back with a 5-1 win of their own.

For the Sunday matchup, the Blue Jays will be bringing out lefty Jaime Garcia for the start. In his first appearance this year, Garcia put up 6.0 innings with four hits and one earned.

Leading the way for the Blue Jays heading into the weekend (in just about every offensive category) was Justin Smoak with 11 hits, six runs and 10 RBI. On Saturday, Smoak whiffed 0-for-3 and Toronto came up with just two hits.

Over on the Rangers’ side, they’re rolling with LHP Cole Hamels on Sunday. In his first start this year, Hamels managed 5.0 innings with four hits, 11 Ks and one earned.

Tops in hitting for the Rangers entering the weekend was Elvis Andrus, with five runs, 13 hits, a homer, three RBI and 19 total bases. In the Saturday game, Andrus ripped two hits.

The Blue Jays are 4-1 in their last five Sunday games and 6-1 in their last seven versus a left-handed starter. The over is 4-1 in Toronto’s last five Sunday games and the under is 10-3-1 in their last 14 during game three of a series.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are 1-4 in their last five in game three of a series and 2-9 in their last 11 Sunday games. Texas is also 26-9 in Hamels’ last 35 home starts and 49-22 in his last 71 starts.

This series is a pretty good matchup and should be a nice barometer of where each team is headed in the early-going this season. Both Garcia and Hamels should pitch well here, so it’ll be up to the respective bullpens and offenses to carry the load. Both teams have up-and-coming offenses, but the Rangers seem to be a little deeper right now. I’m going Texas.

Texas Rangers -108
