Toronto Blue Jays +132 / Chicago White Sox -142 O/U: 9
The Chicago White Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays will meet up on the MLB circuit to continue their series Saturday.
In the Friday opener of this set, the Blue Jays eked out a 4-3 win despite scoring all their runs in just the first and second innings.
For Saturday’s game, the White Sox will be bringing out Ivan Nova in the start. Nova is sitting on 38.1 innings, a 1-3 mark and a 7.04 ERA with 28 Ks and nine walks.
In the Friday loss, the Sox’ Tim Anderson was the only player on the team with more than one hit; he managed a solo homer and scored two runs.
Over on the Jays’ side, they’re going with Marcus Stroman in the Saturday start. In his 45.2 innings of work and 1-5 mark this year, Stroman has a 2.96 ERA with 41 Ks and 18 BBs.
Toronto peppered out their five hits across the lineup, and no player had more than one. The big hit came from Randal Grichuk, who slapped a three-run homer in the first.
The White Sox are 7-20 in the last 27 Saturday games and 2-5 in Nova’s last seven starts. Chicago is 1-4 in Nova’s last five road starts and 1-4 in his last five versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Jays are 1-4 in the last five during game two of a series and 13-6 in Stroman’s last 19 starts. Toronto is 1-5 in Stroman’s last six home starts and 1-5 in his last six during game two of a series.
Nova had a pretty rocky stretch there for a while, with 20 earned over a span of 16.0 innings in three starts, but he put up a quality outing against the Indians his last time up with one earned.
As for Stroman, his numbers have ballooned over the last two starts, with nine earned in eight innings.
I like Nova to continue the bounce-back here, so I’m going Chicago on the win.
