Toronto Blue Jays -118 / Kansas City Royals +108 O/U: 10
The Kansas City Royals and the Toronto Blue Jays will meet up on the MLB diamond Monday to finish up their series.
Toronto took the first two games of this set 6-2 and 7-5. In the Sunday game, KC fought back from a 5-1 deficit to eventually eke out a 7-6 win.
For Monday’s matchup, the Royals will be sending out Glenn Sparkman in the start. Across his 55.1 innings and 2-3 record this year, Sparkman has a 4.07 ERA with 30 Ks and 14 BBs.
Kansas City logged 11 hits in the Sunday game. Four Royals players each managed two hits, and Jorge Soler put up two RBI and a solo homer.
Over on the Jays’ side, they’re going with Clayton Richard as the Monday starter. Richard has 31.1 innings with an 0-4 record, a 6.89 ERA, 15 Ks and 16 walks this year.
Toronto managed eight hits in the Sunday loss, but only scored one run after the second inning. Justin Smoak was the top hitter there with a two-run homer, three RBI and a pair of runs.
The Royals are 6-22 in their last 28 Monday games and 1-5 in the last six in game four of a series. The under is 10-3-2 in Kansas City’s last 15 in game four of a series as well.
Meanwhile, the Jays are 2-5 in Richards’ last seven starts and 3-13 in their last 16 Monday games. The over is 4-0 in Toronto’s last four Monday games and the under is 6-2-1 in their last nine in game four of a series.
Sparkman has been pretty erratic over his last three starts. In two of those, he’s got 10.2 innings with nine earned on 12 hits. In the other, he went 7.0 with one earned on five hits.
As for Richard, he had a little trouble earlier this month but put up a quality start in his last outing with three earned on 6.0 innings versus the Yankees—and still lost.
I’m not thrilled with either pitcher right now but I like Sparkman a little better at this point so I’m going Royals.
