MLB | Los Angeles Angels (21-19) at Toronto Blue Jays (18-24)
USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Angels face off on Thursday at the Rogers Centre as they close out their MLB series.

The Toronto Blue Jays once again took an early lead and once again were unable to hold it as they lost to the Angels on Wednesday. Danny Valencia had two hits and Chris Colabello and Ezequiel Carrera each had hits as the Blue Jays scored three runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Drew Hutchison allowed six hits and four runs while striking out five over 6.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 3-1 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Blue Jays start R.A. Dickey who has allowed 49 hits and 32 earned runs while striking out 23 over 50 innings for a 1-5 record and a 5.76 ERA.

The Los Angeles Angels aren’t gaining any ground on the Astros in the AL West but they have won seven of their last 10 games and their win on Wednesday puts them two games over .500. Mike Trout had two hits including a home run and Kole Calhoun and David Freese had hits as the Angels scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Jered Weaver allowed four hits and three runs while striking out four over 7.0 inning to get the win and go to 3-4 for the season and Huston Street earned his 14th save. For Thursday’s game the Angels start matt Shoemaker who has allowed 38 hits and 24 runs while striking out 38 over 38.1 innings for a 3-3 record and a 5.63 ERA.

Toronto is 7-2 as a home favorite, 1-7 in their last eight games, and 1-4 in Dickey’s last five starts. Los Angeles is 8-2 against the AL East, 10-2 in game four of a series, and 12-1 in Shoemaker’s last 13 road starts. Los Angeles is 14-4 in their last 18 games against Toronto.

I don’t love this one but I am loving the Blue Jays a lot less these days and I have to go with the Angels to get the win.

Pick:
Los Angeles Angels +110
