|Date & Time||Saturday August 10, 2019, 3:07 PM (EDT)|
Toronto Blue Jays +178 / New York Yankees -190 O/U: 11
The New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays will continue their MLB series on Saturday.
In the Thursday opener of this set, the Yankees powered out a 12-6 win. On Friday, the Jays struck back on an 8-2 victory.
For the Saturday game, the Yankees will send out Masahiro Tanaka in the start. Over his 129.2 innings and 7-6 mark so far, Tanaka has a 4.93 ERA with 110 Ks and 34 BBs.
New York posted seven hits in the Friday loss and could only plate one run in the fourth and seventh innings.
Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they’re going with Jacob Waguespack in the start Saturday. Over 36.0 innings and a 3-1 mark this year, Waguespack has a 4.00 ERA with 28 Ks and 10 walks.
Toronto logged six hits on Friday, and made them count. Teoscar Hernandez led the way with two homers and three RBI.
The Yankees are 19-7 in their last 26 in game three of a series and 42-17 in their last 59 Saturday games. New York is 9-1 in Tanaka’s last 10 starts and 9-1 in his last 10 Saturday starts.
Meanwhile, the Jays are 5-2 in their last seven Saturday games and 7-20 in their last 27 in game three of a series. The under is 8-1 in the Jays’ last nine in game three of a series and 4-0 in Waguespack’s last four starts overall.
Tanaka has been pretty sketchy since late June. In his last three starts alone, he’s given up 19 earned runs in the space of 12.1 innings on 27 hits, and that’s not gonna do it for a guy the Yankees really need to be on point right now.
As for Waguespack, he has consecutive wins and consecutive quality starts right now with one earned over 12.0 innings. The potential payoff here might be tempting enough to take a shot on the Jays in this one.
