The Line: Minnesota Twins -102 / Chicago White Sox -108 --- Over/Under: 8
The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox face off on Friday at Target Field for game two of their MLB series of AL Central teams.
The Minnesota Twins got their series off to a big start as they blew out Chicago in game one. Brian Dozier hit a home run, Joe Mauer had three hits, and Eduardo Escobar and Shane Robinson each had two hits as the Twins scored 12 runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Trevor May allowed 10 hits and two runs while striking out four over 5.2 innings to get thee win and go to 2-1 for the season. For Friday’s game the Twins start Kyle Gibson who has allowed 26 hits and 12 runs while striking out six over 22.1 innings for a 1-2 record and a 4.84 ERA.
The Chicago White Sox are still looking to put it together this season and they were blasted by the Twins on Thursday. Alexei Ramirez, Avisal Garcia, and Melky Cabrera had two hits each as the White Sox scored two runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Chris Sale allowed nine hits and eight runs while striking out four over 3.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-1 for the season. For Friday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who has allowed 29 hits and 16 earned runs while striking out 16 over 22 innings for a 1-1 record and a 6.55 ERA.
Minnesota is 6-1 as a home underdog, 4-1 against a team with a losing record, and 2-6 in Gibson’s last eight starts against the AL Central. Chicago is 4-1 following a loss, 7-17 in game two of a series, and 2-5 in Quintana’s last seven road starts.
This game is basically a coin flip but I just don’t like the way Chicago has been playing on the road so my play here is the Twins.
