|Date & Time||Tuesday April 10, 2018, 7:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Washington Nationals -235 / Atlanta Braves +216 --- Over/Under: 7.5
The Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals meet Tuesday in MLB action at Nationals Park.
The Atlanta Braves hope to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time this season. The Braves have allowed five runs in their last three games and three or less runs in each of their last five games. The Atlanta Braves have won seven of their last 10 games when allowing six or less runs. Offensively, Nick Markakis leads the Braves with 13 hits and seven RBI while Dansby Swanson and Ryan Flaherty have combined for 25 hits and 10 RBI. Mike Foltynewicz gets the ball, and he is 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA and 15 strikeouts this season. Foltynewicz is 3-2 with a 5.06 ERA and 30 strikeouts in his career against the Nationals.
The Washington Nationals look to get a game above a .500 record with another victory. The Nationals are coming off a shutout win Monday, and they’ve allowed five or more runs in six of their last nine games. The Washington Nationals have won 12 of their last 16 regular season games when allowing five or less runs. Offensively, Anthony Rendon leads the Nats with 13 hits and four RBI while Howie Kendrick and Bryce Harper have combined for 22 hits and 16 RBI. Stephen Strasburg gets the ball, and he is 1-1 with a 3.65 ERA and 13 strikeouts this season. Strasburg is 10-9 with a 4.06 ERA and 175 strikeouts in his career against the Braves.
The Braves are 1-4 in their last 5 during game 2 of a series, 0-5 in Foltynewiczs last 5 road starts and 1-8 in Foltynewiczs last 9 starts. The Nationals are 14-6 in their last 20 Tuesday games, 44-20 in Strasburgs last 64 home starts and 47-13 in Strasburgs last 60 starts. The Braves are 8-27 in the last 35 meetings in Washington, 19-40 in the last 59 meetings and the Nationals are 8-3 in Strasburgs last 11 starts vs. Braves.
This price is rather crazy considering Foltynewicz has given the Braves two solid performances, including holding these Nationals to four hits and one run in 5.1 innings a few days ago. Strasburg is Strasburg, but he's allowing a .265 batting average in 12.1 innings this season and hasn't been great against these current Braves. In fact, current Braves are hitting .287 with six homers and 24 RBI in 115 at bats against Strasburg. There's value with the Braves on the road and the insane plus money, if you're not afraid to take a shot.
