The Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals will match up on the MLB diamond Tuesday.
The Orioles are coming off a weekend series versus the Rays. Baltimore fell in the Thursday and Friday games, but bagged victories 7-1 Saturday and 8-3 Sunday.
For Tuesday’s game, the Orioles will send out Aaron Brooks for the start. Across his 82.2 innings and 3-7 record this year, Brooks has a 6.21 ERA with 65 Ks and 23 BBs.
Over on the Nationals’ side, they played the Cubs this weekend. Washington swept that series, winning 9-3 Friday, 7-2 Saturday and 7-5 on Sunday.
Washington will go with Patrick Corbin in the start Tuesday. Across 161.2 innings and a 10-5 mark so far, Corbin has a 3.17 ERA with 184 Ks and 51 BBs.
The Orioles are 17-35 in their last 52 Tuesday games and 27-70 in their last 97 after a win. Baltimore is 2-6 in their last eight versus the NL East and 15-60 in their last 75 in game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Nationals are 8-1 in their last nine after an off day and 6-2 in their last eight Tuesday games. Washington is 41-19 in their last 60 overall and 1-6 in their last seven versus the AL East.
Brooks has had a few good starts here and there lately, but for the most part he’s been pretty sketchy. Still, he did get a win his last time up versus KC with 5.0 innings, seven hits and one earned.
As for Corbin, he’s got three straight quality starts, giving up three earned in 20.0 innings over that stretch. I can’t find a whole lot of reasons not to take the Nats here.
