Washington Nationals -300 / Colorado Rockies +268 O/U: 8.5
The Colorado Rockies and the Washington Nationals will finish up their MLB series on Thursday.
In the Tuesday game of this set, the Nationals powered out an 11-1 win. In the doubleheader on Wednesday, Washington evened it up with a 3-2 victory in the first game. In the nightcap, Washington kept it going with another win 2-0.
For Thursday’s finale, the Rockies will roll out Jeff Hoffman for the start. Hoffman is 1-3 this year with a 6.75 ERA and 36 strikeouts.
Colorado had just five hits on Wednesday, and nobody got more than one knock.
Over on the Nationals’ side, they’re going with Max Scherzer in the Thursday game. Over his 129.1 innings and 9-5 record this year, Scherzer has a 2.30 ERA with 181 Ks and 23 BBs.
Patrick Corbin had a great outing for Washington in the Wednesday evening game. He went 6.0 innings with just three hits allowed.
The Rockies are 4-1 in their last five Thursday games and 9-4 in their last 13 in game four of a series. The over is 7-1 in Colorado’s last eight Thursday games and 15-7-1 in their last 23 versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.
Meanwhile, the Nationals are 3-7 in Scherzer’s last 10 home starts and 7-0 in his last seven starts. Washington is 7-2 in Scherzer’s last nine home starts versus a team with a losing record and 12-4 in his last 16 starts versus the NL West.
Scherzer has a great string of quality starts going right now, and he’s won each of his last seven outings. Over his last nine starts, Scherzer has allowed just six earned runs and he’s gone at least 7.0 innings in each of his last seven.
Even though the line is silly thick, with Scherzer on the mound here there’s no way I’m picking against the Nats.
