The Line: Washington Nationals / Miami Marlins --- Over/Under:
The Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins face off on Saturday in Washington after playing two on Friday.
The Washington Nationals will have a few days off before they start the playoffs as we saw them go deep into the bullpen on Friday night taking the loss to the Marlins. Tyler Moore and Steven Souza each had home runs and Jayson Werth had three hits as the Nationals scored seven runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Taylor Hill allowed 10 hits and seven runs while striking out four over 4.2 innings to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the Nationals start Stephen Strasburg who is 13-11 with a 3.23 ERA for the season and 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA in his last three starts.
The Miami Marlins showed a ton of guts this season and they will be a team no one wants to face next year. On Friday Adeiny Hechavarria had four hits, Enrique Hernandez hit a home run, and Garrett Jones, Justin Bour, and J.T. Reamuto each had three hits as the Marlins scored 15 runs on 22 hits. Starting pitcher Andrew Heaney allowed six hits and four runs over 4.0 innings as it was A.J. Ramos who got the win. For Saturday’s game the Marlins start Nathan Eovaldi who is 6-13 with a 4.44 ERA for the season and 0-3 with a 7.53 ERA in his last three starts.
Washington is 8-2 against the NL East, 37-17 in their last 54 games, and 6-2 in Strasburg’s last eight starts. Miami is 3-7 in their last 10 games, 1-4 in their last five Saturday games, and 7-19 in Eovaldi’s last 26 starts. Miami is 8-21 in their last 29 games against Washington.
Miami has fought hard all year but even though I don’t see Strasburg lasting long I like Washington here.
