The New York Mets and the Washington Nationals will match up on the MLB circuit Wednesday.

In the Tuesday edition of this set, the Mets rattled off four runs in the top of the first and went on to a 6-2 victory.

For Wednesday’s matchup, the Mets will be sending out RHP Wilmer Font in the start. Font sports a 1-0 record this year along with a 5.50 ERA and 19 strikeouts.

The Mets had one big swing in the first inning Tuesday that made all the difference in the game. Wilson Ramos ripped a grand slam there, providing four runs that would be the deciding factor.

Over on the Nationals’ side, they’re going with Patrick Corbin in the start Wednesday. Corbin is 3-1 this season with a 3.20 ERA and 58 Ks to his name.

The Nationals could only muster five hits on Tuesday. Two of those belonged to Anthony Rendon, who also managed a walk.

The Mets are 12-4 in their last 16 in game two of a series and 0-4 in their last four Wednesday games. The under is 4-0 in New York’s last four Wednesday games and the over is 5-2-1 in their last eight road games versus a lefty starter.

Meanwhile, the Nationals are 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series and 4-1 in Corbin’s last five starts. Washington is 4-1 in Corbin’s last five starts on grass and the over is 6-1 in their last seven Wednesday games.

Font’s debut for the Mets turned out quite well, and New York is hoping they’ve stumbled upon another piece who can help out their rotation—especially with Stephen Matz injured. Don’t expect Font to go much past 60 or 70 pitches here, though.

As for Corbin, he’s given up five earned over 12 innings against the Mets this year (two starts) and for the most part has been playing quite well.

There are a lot of interesting storylines here, but when the dust settles I think the Nats will take it.
