The Line: Washington Nationals +119 / Philadelphia Phillies -129 --- Over/Under: 8
On Saturday from Nationals Park, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals will be continuing their MLB weekend series.
In the Friday opener, the Phillies won a wild game 12-2, scoring in six of nine innings.
For Saturday’s game, the Phillies will be bringing out RHP Aaron Nola. In his 95.1 innings and 8-2 record this year, Nola has a 2.55 ERA with 94 Ks and 26 BBs.
The Phillies’ lead hitter this year is Odubel Herrera with 81 hits, 35 runs, 12 homers and 41 RBI. On Friday, Herrera ripped a homer among four hits, four runs and two RBI.
Over on the Nats’ side, they’re going with Erick Fedde on Saturday. Across his 16.0 innings and 0-2 mark this season, Fedde has a 5.62 ERA with 13 Ks and four walks.
Tops in hitting for the Nationals this season is Trea Turner with 78 hits, 40 runs and 26 RBI. In the opener, Turner had one hit.
The Phillies are 7-3 in their last 10 Saturday games and 1-5 in their last six in game two of a series. Philly is also 9-2 in Nola’s last 11 starts and 3-8 in his last 11 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Nationals are 0-4 in Fedde’s last four home starts and 4-1 in their last five games versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. The under is 8-2 in the Nats’ last 1 Saturday games and 20-7 in their last 27 in game two of a series.
After a string of four straight quality starts, Nola had some issues his last outing with four earned on seven hits in 4.1 innings. As for Fedde, he’s given up 10 earned over his last 16.0 innings this season. I’m not super thrilled with either pitcher here but I like Nola a little better. I’ll take Philly.
