The Line: Chicago White Sox -160 / Minnesota Twins +150 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox play game two of their series Saturday afternoon.
The Minnesota Twins picked up their first win on Friday in a 6-0 matchup. The Twins offense finally showed up, as Joe Mauer now has four hits in four games and Brian Dozier has the team’s only home run. Torii Hunter has two hits and four strikeouts in 16 at bats. The Minnesota Twins pitching staff also held up for a change, as they struck out seven batters and allowed zero runs for the first time since July 8th. Mike Pelfrey gets the nod, and he was 0-3 with a 7.99 ERA and 10 strikeouts last season. Pelfrey is 0-3 with a 6.66 ERA and 18 strikeouts in his career against the White Sox.
The Chicago White Sox pitching staff continues to stink up the joint, as they’ve allowed now 27 runs in their first four games. The White Sox saw this all last season and it doesn’t look like things are going to change. Offensively, Jose Abreu, Avisail Garcia and Micah Johnson all have three hits and Tyler Flowers has three RBI. The Chicago White Sox must get their pitching staff in order before things once again get out of hand. Jeff Samardzija takes the hill, and he is 0-1 with a 7.50 ERA and one strikeout. Samardzija is 1-1 with a 9.31 ERA and six strikeouts in his career against the Twins.
The Twins are 7-15 in their last 22 during game 2 of a series and 3-8 in Pelfreys last 11 starts. The White Sox are 5-16 in their last 21 during game 2 of a series and 17-35 in their last 52 vs. American League Central. The over is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings in Chicago.
Instead of trying to figure out which team is going to show up, just side with the over. Both teams give up runs left and right, and that's the one thing you can bet on that will continue.
