We head to the Watkins Glen International this weekend for the 2015 Cheez-It 355 at The Glen, which will be the second and final road race this season. It should be fun!
Here are some racers you should consider throwing onto your card this weekend.
Kyle Larson - If you’re looking for a big boy dark horse this week, I suggest taking a shot with Kyle Larson at odds of +5000. Larson has finished 12th or better in each of his last two races and has top-20 finishes in six of his last nine races. In just one appearance at the Cheez-It 355 at The Glen, Larson finished fourth despite qualifying 23rd. With some experience under his belt this time around, Larson is a dangerous dark horse. Here’s to Larson’s first career Sprint Cup Series victory and putting some serious cash in our pockets.
Tony Stewart - Sure, Tony Stewart hasn’t exactly been great this season and has probably hurt your pocketbook at times. However, guess who has five career victories on this track? Yup. Tony Stewart. That’s the most all time. In fact, Stewart has finished seventh or better in seven of his last nine appearances at the Cheez-It 355 at The Glen. It’s fair to say that if there’s a track that can turn Stewart’s season around, it’s this one. I like my chances with odds of +1650.
Jamie McMurray - Jamie McMurray has been a solid consistent racer all season long with seven top-10 finishes. Sure, McMurray hasn’t been able to get over the hump since 2013, but he’s been in the thick of it for much of the season and gives you your money’s worth given his odds. This week, McMurray comes with odds of +3300. McMurray has finished 17th or better in five of his last seven appearances on this course. It feels like McMurray’s first Sprint Cup Series win in over two years is right around the corner. Why not this week?
Kyle Busch - To my surprise, Kyle Busch isn’t the overall favorite this week. You can get Bush for odds of up +600, which sounds mighty good to me. Bush has won this race back in 2008 and 2013, and he’s just one of seven racers to win at least twice at the Watkins Glen International. Bush has also won three of his last four races, a stretch we probably haven’t seen since Jimmie Johnson in 2007. Bush has led this course for 188 laps throughout his career and is the hottest racer on the planet right now. I love my chances of making six times my money this weekend.
