The Line: Atlanta +3.5 -- Over/Under 235.5
The Brooklyn Nets pay a visit to the Atlanta Hawks at the State Farm Arena on Saturday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in decent shape as they've won four of their last seven games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Cavaliers in a 113-107 home win on Wednesday. Spencer Dinwiddie led the team with 28 points and five assists off the bench, D'Angelo Russell added 25 points with five assists while Jarrett Allen chipped in with 15 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Nets shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line, but they really had to scrap till the end as they couldn't gain any separation until the fourth quarter where they outscored the Cavaliers by 33-22 to escape with the narrow win to improve to 34-33 overall which is good for seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have lost four of their last seven games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after falling short against the spurs in a 111-104 home loss on Wednesday. Trae Young led the team with 22 points and four assists, John Collins added 18 points with 10 rebounds while Kent Bazemore chipped in with 12 points off the bench. As a team, the Hawks shot 39 percent from the field and 13 of 43 from the 3-point line as they really took it to the Spurs in a successful first half, but they just couldn't keep it going after Taurean Prince received two technical fouls and an ejection midway through the third quarter. With the tough loss, Atlanta fell to 22-44 on the season and 11-20 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games against a team with a home record below .400, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Hawks are 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 11-2-1 in the last 14 meetings, the Nets are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall and 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Atlanta.
The Hawks have sprung to life with a few surprise wins over the last couple of weeks with Young making a late push for the Rookie of the Year award, while the Nets are starting to build some momentum as they look to cling onto that seventh seed in the Eastern Conference standings. There's always a chance of an upset with Young on the court, but the Nets have already beaten the Hawks by double digits twice this season and they are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Atlanta, so I'm backing those trends to continue as the Nets complete the sweep in this one.
