The Charlotte Hornets travel to the Philips Arena to battle the Atlanta Hawks tonight.
The Hawks bounced back from a poor loss in the season opener to beat the Knicks by 112-101 last night. Jeff Teague led the scoring with 23 points and eight assists, Al Horford added 21 points on 9 of 18 shooting while Kyle Korver chipped in with 15 points in a real team effort. Overall, it was a real solid performance, exactly what coach Budenholzer would have wanted coming off such a disappointing loss to the Pistons.
Meanwhile, the Hornets will also be looking to bounce back after falling to the Heat by 104-94 in their first game of the season. Kemba Walker led the team with 19 points, Al Jefferson and Jeremy Lin added 17 points each but the Hornets could never really get going after falling behind by 54-44 going into the halftime break. As a team, the Hornets shot just 39.3 percent from the field and just 6 of 24 from the three-point line but there's plenty of room for improvement as they look to work new recruits Jeremy Lin and Nicolas Batum into their offense.
In ATS trends, the Hornets are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against the Eastern Conference, while the Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win and 0-4 ATS in their last four home games.
Head to head, the Hornets are 4-12 ATS in the last 16 meetings overall and 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Atlanta.
Going off what I've seen from both teams so far, I think the Hawks win this game and win it easily, making light work of the spread in this one.
