The Line: Atlanta +8.5
The Toronto Raptors and the Atlanta Hawks duke it out at the State Farm Arena on Thursday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been in great form as they’ve won 11 of their past 15 games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the 76ers in a 119-107 road win on Tuesday. Kawhi Leonard made 16 of 17 free-throw attempts to lead the team in scoring with 24 points, Serge Ibaka added 20 points with 10 rebounds while Kyle Lowry chipped in with 20 points and six assists. As a team, the Raptors shot 46 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running to take a 17-point lead going into halftime before holding off the 76ers who rallied in the fourth quarter. With the win, Toronto improved to 39-16 overall and 17-11 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have lost five of their last nine games, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Wizards in a 137-129 road win on Monday. Taurean Prince led drained five 3-pointers to lead the team with 21 points, Kevin Huerter drained five 3-pointers en route to 19 points while Omari Spellman and Vince Carter each scored 16 points off the bench. As a team, the Hawks shot 50 percent from the field and 20 of 40 from the 3-point line as they ambushed the Wizards in the first quarter to lead by as many as 19 points in the second quarter before the Wizards rallied in the second half. With the win, Atlanta improved to 18-35 overall and 10-22 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win, 3-10 ATS in their last 13 road games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record. The Hawks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games, 3-13 ATS in their last 16 home games following a road trip of seven or more days and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings, the Raptors are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in Atlanta.
The Raptors have been one of the hottest teams in the league lately and they will be full of confidence following their big road win over the 76ers on Tuesday. The Hawks have been out of the playoff picture for a while now, but they’ve been playing some of their best basketball of the season and they looked great in their upset win over the Wizards. The Raptors are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in Atlanta and I think that trend continues as the Raptors should be too good here.
