The Los Angeles Clippers invade the TD Garden to do battle with the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have won six of their past eight games and they will be looking to stay hot after making light work of the struggling Nets in a 114-101 road win on Monday. Seven players finished in double figures for the Clippers with Lou Williams leading the scoring with 20 points off the bench while Danilo Gallinari and DeAndre Jordan contributing 16 points each. As a team, the Clippers shot a healthy 56 percent from the field while holding the Nets to just 46 percent shooting and the win never looked in doubt as the Clippers jumped out to lead by 12 points after the first quarter and 23 points going into the fourth quarter. With the easy win, Los Angeles improved to 29-26 overall and 13-14 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have won six of their past 10 games but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting blown out by the new-look Cavaliers in a 121-99 home loss on Sunday. Terry Rozier led the team with 21 points and five assists off the bench, Kyrie Irving added 18 points with five assists while Marcus Morris chipped in with 17 points but no other Celtics player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Celtics shot just 40 percent from the field and they just had no answer for the Cavaliers who shot 53 percent from the field and 16 of 30 from the three-point line. With the loss, Boston dropped to 40-18 overall and 21-10 at home where they have now lost two straight.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a win of more than 10 points. Meanwhile, the Celtics are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a double-digit loss at home, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall and the Clippers are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in Boston.
The Clippers have been in solid form lately and they certainly looked good in their easy win over the Nets on Monday. The Clippers have also covered in 12 of their last 16 road games and six of their last eight meetings in Boston, but the Celtics are coming into this one fresh off a rare double-digit loss at home so they’ll be eager to atone for that with a nice bounce-back performance in this one. The Celtics have already beaten the Wizards by 113-102 back on Jan 24 and I’m expecting a similar result here.
