The Line: Boston -10.5 -- Over/Under 205.5
The Boston Celtics play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the TD Garden on Friday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in a real slump lately as they’ve lost nine of their last 10 games and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling to the Bucks in a 111-101 home loss on Wednesday. Omri Casspi led the team in scoring with 17 points off the bench, while Mike Conley, Marc Gasol and JaMychal Green each scored 14 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 38 percent from the field and 10 of 31 from the 3-point line as they really took it to the Bucks for most of the game, but there was just no coming back after the Bucks went for a decisive 19-0 run to put the game out of reach before the fourth quarter. With the loss, Memphis fell to 19-25 overall and 11-10 at home.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in decent form as they’ve won eight of their last 13 games and they will be feeling pretty good after snapping a three-game skid with a 117-108 home win over the Raptors on Wednesday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 27 points and a career-high 18 assists, Al Horford added 24 points on nine of 12 shooting, Gordon Hayward provided the spark off the bench with 18 points and five assists while Jayson Tatum chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 50 percent from the field and 14 of 30 from the 3-point line as they closed the game on a 17-4 run to run away with the game after squandering a 16-point lead. With the win, Boston improved to 26-18 overall and 16-5 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, 0-5 ATS in their last five road games and 6-21 ATS in their last 27 games overall. The Celtics are 36-16 ATS in their last 52 home games, 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a losing record and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games following a win.
Head to head, the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, the Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall and 14-4 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Boston.
The Grizzlies just can't buy a win these days, especially on road where they're currently 8-15 on the season, so it's hard to see anything but a win for the Celtics in this one, especially at home where they're always tough to beat. Surprisingly, the Grizzlies are a dominant 14-4 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Boston, but they're just not anything like the Grizzlies we've got to know over the past few years. I think the Celtics stay hot with a big win in this one behind another big game from Irving.
