The Miami Heat invade the TD Garden to battle the Boston Celtics on Monday night.
The Miami Heat have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last nine games and they will be looking to cap off a four-game road trip on a high note after beating the Bulls by 117-103 on Saturday. Josh Richardson led the team with 26 points on 10 of 15 shooting, Dion Waiters added 21 points off the bench while Dwyane Wade chipped in with 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Heat shot a healthy 57 percent from the field and 13 of 32 from the 3-point line as they outscored the Bulls by 62-46 in the second half to make light work of the slumping Bulls. With the easy win, Miami improved to 22-22 overall and 11-10 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics look to have moved on from their three-game skid as they’ve reeled off three straight wins after sneaking past the Hawks in a 113-105 road win on Saturday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 32 points and five assists, Jayson Tatum added 19 points while Jaylen Brown chipped in with 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot 44 percent from the field and 12 of 32 from the 3-point line as they trailed the Hawks for most of the game, until the fourth quarter where they closed the final 5:40 on a 14-5 run to steal the game late. With the win, Boston improved to 28-18 overall and 11-13 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games, 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team above .600. The Celtics are 36-17 ATS in their last 53 home games, 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games against the Eastern Conference and 17-4 ATS in their last 21 home games against a team with a winning road record.
Head to head, the road team is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings, the Heat are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Boston.
These two squads last met on Jan 10 and it was the Heat who won by 115-99 behind 19 points from Dwyane Wade which started a slide for the Celtics who went on to lose three straight, but the Celtics are back on the rise with Irving leading the way at the clutch. I think the Celtics can exact their revenge with a win at home, but it won’t be easy so I’m going with the Heat and the points in what should be a close one.
