Washington Wizards at Boston Celtics
|Date & Time||Friday March 1, 2019, 8:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Boston -9 -- Over/Under 231
The Boston Celtics play host to the Washington Wizards at the TD Garden on Friday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a funk as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games, but they will be feeling better after snapping a four-game skid with a 125-116 road win at Brooklyn on Wednesday. Bradley Beal led the team with 31 points, Trevor Ariza added 23 points with 10 rebounds and five assists while Thomas Bryant chipped in with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 45 percent from the field and 11 of 37 from the 3-point line, but they dominated the boards by 57-41 as they outhustled the Nets for most of the game, pouring in 101 points in three quarters to lead by as many as 28 points. With the easy win, Washington improved to 25-36 overall and 8-24 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have really been out of sorts lately as they’ve lost six of their past eight games and they will be hoping to stop a four-game losing streak after falling short against the Trailblazers in a 97-92 home loss on Wednesday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 31 points on 14 of 24 shooting, Jayson Tatum added 14 points while Al Horford and Marcus Smart each scored 13 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 46 percent from the field and a miserly five of 28 from the 3-point line which was better than the Trailblazers’ figures, but they committed 16 turnovers and were always trailing after getting outscored in the third quarter by 31-22. With the tough loss, Boston fell to 37-25 overall and 23-9 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 11-32 ATS in their last 43 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win and 5-23 ATS in their last 28 road games against a team with a winning home record. The Celtics are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games against a team with a losing road record, 35-16 ATS in their last 51 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games playing on one days rest.
Head to head, the home team is 12-4 ATS in the last 16 meetings, the Wizards are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and 1-10 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Boston.
The Wizards haven’t been playing well at all lately, but they’ve run into a Celtics team who are going through some struggles of their own, so this one isn’t a foregone conclusion. These two squads last met on Dec 12 and it was the Celtics who won by 130-125, but that game went down to overtime and I’m expecting another close one here. The Wizards are just 1-10 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Boston, but I’m not comfortable laying this many points while the Celtics are in their current slump.
