The Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets duke it out at the Barclays Center for some Monday night basketball.
The Boston Celtics have been in decent form as they’ve won seven of their last 11 games, but they will be looking to avoid a third straight defeat after falling to the Magic in a 105-103 road loss on Saturday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 25 points and six assists, Marcus Morris added 17 points while Jayson Tatum chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 42 percent from the field and eight of 32 from the 3-point line as they rallied in the fourth quarter only to fall short when Tatum missed on a shot to force overtime at the buzzer on what looked like a broken play. With the loss, Boston fell to 25-17 overall and 10-12 on the road where they have now lost four of their last five.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in great form since early December as they’ve won 13 of their last 18 games but they will be looking to bounce back after getting blown out by the Raptors in a 122-105 road loss on Friday. D’Angelo Russell led the team with 24 points, six rebounds and nine assists, Shabazz Napier added 15 points with five assists off the bench, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Nets shot just 42 percent from the field and 11 of 30 from the 3-point line as they jumped out to an early nine-point lead in the first quarter, but it was all one-way traffic from that point as the Raptors never looked in danger after outscoring the Nets by 36-18 in the second quarter. With the loss, Brooklyn fell to 21-23 overall and 10-12 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a losing record and 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games overall. The Nets are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Brooklyn and the underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.
These two teams met just a week ago and it was the Celtics who won by 116-95 back on Monday. The Nets have been in decent form and will be keen to exact revenge in this encounter, but they are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against teams. The Celtics are only 1-5 ATS in their last six road games, but they already slipped up against the struggling Magic in their last outing and I think they will bounce back with a solid road win here.
