The Charlotte Hornets and the Brooklyn Nets duke it out at the Barclays Center on Wednesday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in decent form as they've won five of their last eight games but they will be looking to bounce back after having their two-game win streak snapped by the Celtics in a 119-103 road loss on Sunday. Kemba Walker led the team with 21 points and four assists, Willie Hernangomez added 19 points with 10 rebounds off the bench while Jeremy Lamb chipped in with 14 points and five assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 43 percent from the field and eight of 32 from the 3-point line but they were always fighting a losing battle after falling behind by 68-47 at halftime. The Hornets were outplayed by the Celtics in every facet of the game and actually trailed by as many as 27 points before pulling it back in garbage time. With the loss, Charlotte fell to 16-16 on the season and 4-9 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been on a tear lately as they've won eight of their last nine games and they will be looking to stay hot after taking down the Suns in a 111-103 win on Sunday. Spencer Dinwiddie has been on fire lately and led the team with 24 points and seven assists off the bench, D'Angelo Russell added 18 points with eight assists while Rodions Kurucs chipped in with 16 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Nets shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 27 from the 3-point line as they took advantage of a tired Suns team coming off a short turnaround. With the win, Brooklyn improved to 16-19 on the season and 8-11 at home where they have won five of their last six games.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Nets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings and the Hornets are 2-7 ATS in the last nine meetings.
The Hornets haven't been too bad lately but they were thoroughly outplayed against the Celtics in their last outing so they will be looking to atone for their mistakes in this one. However, the Nets have come out of nowhere to become one of the hottest teams so they look like good value as the slight home favorites in this one. I'm going with the Nets to win this one by single digits.
