The Line: Brooklyn -5 -- Over/Under 224
The Dallas Mavericks and the Brooklyn Nets duke it out at the Barclays Center on Monday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a real slump lately as they’ve lost six of their last seven games and they will be looking to bounce back after getting routed by the Grizzlies in a 111-81 home loss on Saturday. Luka Doncic led the team with 22 points, Dwight Powell added 13 points while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 10 points, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Mavericks shot a season-low 30 percent from the field and seven of 40 from the 3-point line which was never going to be enough to hang with the Grizzlies
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in a funk as they’ve lost nine of their last 13 games and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after falling to the Heat in a 117-88 road loss on Saturday. Joe Harris led the team with 15 points, Rodions Kurucs added 11 points while D’Angelo Russell chipped in with 10 points and eight assists. As a team, the Nets shot a miserable 35 percent from the field and nine of 42 from the 3-point line, but they were playing on zero days rest and it showed, particularly in the second half where they were outscored by 63-44. With the blowout loss, Brooklyn fell to 32-33 overall which is currently good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games following a loss of more than 10 points, 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 against the Eastern Conference and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Nets are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against the Western Conference and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.
Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings and the road team is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings.
Both the Nets and the Mavericks have been struggling lately, but the Nets are aiming for a playoff berth while the Mavericks are just looking to play out the regular season. The last time these two teams met was on Nov 21 and it was the Mavericks who won by 119-113 at home, but they've been ice-cold lately and just got blown out by 30 points by the hands of the lowly Grizzlies. With that being said, I'm leaning towards the Nets to get their season back on track with a solid win and cover at home.
