The Los Angeles Lakers pay a visit to the Barclays Center to battle the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their past 10 games but they will be looking to bounce back after falling to the Wizards in a 128-110 road loss on Sunday. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led the team in scoring with 25 points and five assists off the bench, Kyle Kuzma added 20 points while LeBron James chipped in with just 13 points on five of 16 shooting. As a team, the Lakers shot 48 percent from the field and just 11 of 36 from the 3-point line but the Lakers were always fighting an uphill battle after their slow start meant that they were trailing by 71-51 going into halftime. With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 18-12 overall and 7-8 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets didn’t look good when they were mired in their eight-game skid but they’re suddenly aiming for a season-high sixth straight after blowing past the Hawks in a 144-127 home win on Sunday. D’Angelo Russell led the team with 32 points and seven assists, Ronda Hollis-Jefferson added 18 points while Jared Dudley and Joe Harris each scored 16 points. As a team, the Nets shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 16 of 40 from the 3-point line as they pull away late for the win after seeing their 21-point lead cut to just two. With the impressive win, Brooklyn improved to 13-18 on the season and 6-10 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games, 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss of more than 10 points. The Nets are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games following a win of more than 10 points and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the road team is 19-7-4 ATS in the last 30 meetings, the Lakers are 4-1-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Lakers are 12-3-3 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Brooklyn.
The Lakers have been in solid form lately but they will be eager to get back on the court after getting embarrassed by the Wizards in their last outing. The Nets have been a hard team to figure out, but they've suddenly become one of the hottest teams in the league and will be full of confidence after pouring in 144 points in their win over the Hawks. These two teams have yet to meet this season but it's no surprise that the Lakers are favorites as the road team here, but the Nets are a perfect 6-0 ATS during their six-game win streak and I think they can stay hot with another win in this one.
