The San Antonio Spurs and Brooklyn Nets meet Monday in NBA action at the Barclays Center.
The San Antonio Spurs need a win here after losing six of their last seven games. The San Antonio Spurs are averaging 112.4 points on 47.9 percent shooting and allowing 111.5 points on 47 percent shooting. DeMar DeRozan is averaging 21.4 points and 6.2 assists while LaMarcus Aldridge is averaging 20.7 points and nine rebounds. Rudy Gay is the third double-digit scorer and Bryn Forbes is dishing 2.2 assists. The San Antonio Spurs are shooting 40.7 percent from beyond the arc and 82.4 percent from the free throw line. The San Antonio Spurs are allowing 36.3 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 44.1 rebounds per game. The San Antonio Spurs have lost seven of their last nine road games.
The Brooklyn Nets need a win here after losing six of their last nine games. The Brooklyn Nets are averaging 112.2 points on 45 percent shooting and allowing 112.8 points on 46.4 percent shooting. D'Angelo Russell is averaging 20.5 points and 6.7 assists while Caris LeVert is averaging 16 points and 3.9 rebounds. Joe Harris is the third double-digit scorer and Jarrett Allen is grabbing 8.7 rebounds. The Brooklyn Nets are shooting 35.6 percent from beyond the arc and 75.2 percent from the free throw line. The Spurs are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games, 8-2 ATS in their last 10 vs. Eastern Conference and 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Nets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Monday games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 vs. Western Conference. The Spurs are 15-3 ATS in the last 18 meetings in Brooklyn and 25-8-1 ATS in the last 34 meetings. The over is 5-1 in Nets last 6 overall. The over is 18-6 in Spurs last 24 overall.
The San Antonio Spurs have been god awful on the road this season, and now they're on the end of a back-to-back, closing out an eight-game road trip. The last two Spurs games ended with DeRozan turning the ball over to give his former team the victory and losing last night to the Knicks, the first time New York won a home game since the Titanic sank. This is a club that can't wait to get back home. The Brooklyn Nets have had their issues as well recently, but they still play well at home overall, have the rest advantage and are 6-1 ATS when favored by less than four points. I'm not sure how anybody can get behind the San Antonio Spurs on the road, especially after what they've seen these last few games. The Nets beat the Spurs for the first time since December of 2014.
