The Brooklyn Nets play host to the Washington Wizards at the Barclays Center on Wednesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a real slump as they’ve lost seven of their past nine games and they will be hoping to put a halt to a four-game skid after falling short against the Pacers in a 119-112 home loss on Saturday. Bradley Beal led the team with 35 points and six assists, Thomas Bryant added 23 points, 12 rebounds and four assists off the bench while Tomas Satoransky chipped in with 12 points and six assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 53 percent from the field and 13 of 35 from the 3-point line but they were sloppy with the ball as he committed 22 turnovers while allowing the Pacers to shoot 56 percent from the field. With the loss, Washington fell to 24-36 overall and 17-12 at home.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their last four games and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after blowing past the Spurs in a 101-85 home win on Monday. D’Angelo Russell led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, while Joe Harris and Caris LeVert each scored 15 points. As a team, the Nets shot 43 percent from the field and 19 of 50 from the 3-point line, but this win was all about their defense as they held the Spurs to just 36 percent shooting and four of 24 from the 3-point line. With the impressive win, Brooklyn improved to 32-30 overall which is currently good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 20-41 ATS in their last 61 road games, 4-23 ATS in their last 27 road games against a team with a winning home record and 4-1 ATS in their last five Wednesday games. The Nets are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a losing record, 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the home team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings, the Wizards are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings overall and 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Brooklyn.
Beal has been lifting his production for the shorthanded Wizards, but it hasn’t been enough as they still have major problems on the defensive side of the floor. The Nets were in a bit of a funk for a while but they’ve been building nicely with three wins in their last four games and they are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a losing record. The Wizards are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings in Brooklyn and I think that trend continues as the Wizards’ struggles continue in this one.
