Portland Trail Blazers at Charlotte Hornets
|Date & Time||Sunday March 3, 2019, 1:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: Charlotte +2.5 -- Over/Under 228
The Portland Trailblazers pay a visit to the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Portland Trailblazers have been in great shape lately as they’ve won nine of their past 13 games, but they will be looking to bounce back after having their five-game win streak halted by the Raptors in a tough 119-117 road loss on Friday. CJ McCollum drained seven 3-pointers to lead the team with 35 points and five assists, Damian Lillard added 24 points with six assists while Jake Layman chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 49 percent from the field and 14 of 33 from the 3-point line as they hung with the red-hot Raptors right till the end, but with the scores tied and time running out, it was Kawhi Leonard who drained the go-ahead shot with three seconds left in the game. With the loss, Portland fell to 38-24 overall which is good for fourth place in the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in a funk lately as they’ve lost seven of their past 10 games, but they will be feeling a little better after snapping a three-game skid with a 123-112 road win at Brooklyn on Friday. Kemba Walker led the team with 25 points and seven assists, Jeremy Lamb added 22 points off the bench while Nicolas Batum chipped in with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 53 percent from the field and nine of 21 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 31 points in the first quarter before taking control of the game in the second quarter where they outscored the Nets by 37-18. With the much-needed win, Charlotte improved to 29-33 overall which is currently good for eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
Looking at the betting trends, the Trailblazers are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Hornets are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games, 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games against the Western Conference.
Head to head, the under is 6-0-1 in the last seven meetings, the home team is 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings and the Trailblazers are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings.
The Hornets haven’t been able to find their feet lately as they’ve won just three of their last 10 and they’re up against a red-hot Trailblazers team who already beat them by 31 points back on Jan 11. The Trailblazers are also 5-0 ATS in their last five road games while the Hornets are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games, so I have the Trailblazers bouncing back with a win and cover in this one.
