The Boston Celtics pay a visit to the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Saturday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in decent shape as they’ve won 12 of their last 16 games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after falling just short against the Bucks in a 98-97 road loss on Thursday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 22 points and five assists but shot just nine of 27 from the field, Al Horford added 21 points with 17 rebounds and five assists while Jayson Tatum chipped in with 17 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Celtics shot a miserly 38 percent from the field and 14 of 40 from the 3-point line which was good enough to hang with the Bucks until the fourth quarter where Giannis Antetokounnmpo scored 12 of his 30 points. With the tough loss, Boston fell to 37-22 overall and 14-14 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls have been in a funk as they’ve lost four of their last seven games but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after last night’s 110-109 road win over the Magic. Lauri Markkanen led the team with 25 points and 11 rebounds, Zach LaVine added 22 points with six assists while Robin Lopez chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Bulls shot 44 percent from the field and 12 of 29 from the 3-point line as they won by the smallest of margins behind two clutch free throws from Markannen late in the fourth. With the much-needed win, Chicago improved to 15-44 overall and 9-21 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 5-1 ATS in their last six against the Eastern Conference, 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record. The Bulls are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days rest, 2-8 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 home games.
Head to head, the under is 22-8 in the last 30 meetings in Chicago, the Celtics are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Chicago.
The Celtics were looking to hit the ground running in their first game back from the All-Star break, but things didn’t go to plan as they fell just short against the red-hot Bucks on Thursday. The Bulls would be one of the teams would be tanking at this stage of the season, but they played hard against the Magic last night and are now aiming for a rare third straight win. It’s nice to see the Bulls hit a bit of form in their last couple of games but the Celtics are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings overall and 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Chicago. With that being said, I’m taking the Celtics to bounce back with an easy win and cover against the Bulls playing their second night of a back to back set.
