NBA preseason action heats up when the Boston Celtics visit the Cleveland Cavaliers Saturday.
The Boston Celtics fell to 1-2 in the preseason following a 102-95 loss at Cleveland in the first leg of a home-and-home series. A 40 point first half did Boston in with a mere 5-31 performance from long range and 42.7% shooting for the game dooming the offense.
Marcus Smart topped the Celtics offense with 15 points on 5-9 from the field while Marcus Morris was right on his heels with 14 point on 5-10 shooting. Walt Lemon Jr. and Jaylen Brown netted eleven and ten points respectively on a combined 9-16 marksmanship but the Celtics lacked secondary production.
The Cleveland Cavaliers rode a 32-19 first quarter to a win at Boston in their preseason opener. Cleveland struggled to make shots at 41.3% but were a solid 8-20 from distance and 28-38 from the stripe.
Kevin Love pumped in a game high 17 points on 5-10 from the floor while Collin Sexton gave the Cavaliers 15 points on 5-11. Cleveland saw the duo of David Nwaba and Jordan Clarkson toss in 12 points apiece on 9-13 shooting while Cedi Osman and Rodney Hood combined for 21 points on 7-13 with Osman grabbing seven rebounds.
Celtics are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games and Celtics are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and Celtics are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games following a ATS loss. Under is 7-1 in Cavaliers last 8 games playing on 3 or more days rest and Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game and Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game. Celtics are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings and under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
The Celtics have been using the preseason to take a look at things with no real sense of urgency so assuming that continues I'll take the points...
