The Line: Cleveland +12.5 -- Over/Under 214.5
The Boston Celtics pay a visit to the struggling Cleveland Cavaliers at the Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday night.
The Boston Celtics have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their last 10 games and they will be gunning for a fifth straight victory after sneaking past the Thunder in a 134-129 home win on Sunday. Kyrie Irving led the way with 30 points and 11 assists, Marcus Morris added 19 points, Marcus Smart scored 18 points with seven assists while Al Horford chipped in with 17 points and nine assists. As a team, the Celtics shot a sizzling 59 percent from the field and 13 of 34 from the 3-point line but they had to fight from start till finish against the feisty Thunder who wouldn’t go away. With the win, Boston improved to 34-19 overall and 22-6 at home.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have lost seven of their last nine games but they were going for a third straight victory before falling to the Mavericks in a 111-98 home loss on Saturday. Jordan Clarkson led the team with 19 points off the bench, Collin Sexton added 13 points while Alec Burks chipped in with 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot just 40 percent from the field and a miserly four of 23 from the 3-point line as they fought back after allowing 40 points in the first quarter, only to fall away in the fourth quarter where they managed just 18 points. With the loss, Cleveland fell to 11-42 overall and 6-20 at home.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games against a team below .400, 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win. The Cavaliers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record above .600 and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the favorite is 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings and the home team is 8-1 ATS in the last nine meetings.
The Celtics have been on a nice run lately as they’ve won nine of their last 10 and they’re a dominant 8-1 ATS in their last nine games against a team below .400. The Cavaliers have really struggled to stay competitive lately and they are just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games. With that being said, I’m sticking with the Celtics to stay hot with their fifth straight win in what should be a blowout.
