The Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the Miami Heat at the Quicken Loans Arena on Wednesday night.
The Miami Heat have been in great form as they’ve won six of their last eight games but they will be looking to bounce back after falling to the Timberwolves in a 113-104 home loss on Sunday. Dwyane Wade led the team with 21 points and five assists off the bench, Josh Richardson added 17 points while Derrick Jones Jr. chipped in with 16 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Heat shot just 41 percent from the field and eight of 24 from the 3-point line as they fell just short after cutting an 11-point deficit to two points in the fourth quarter. The shorthanded Heat just had no one who could slow down the Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns who scorched them for 34 points, 18 rebounds, seven assists and six blocks.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have lost eight of their last nine games and they will be hoping to snap a six-game losing streak after falling to the Hawks in a 111-108 road loss on Saturday. Cedi Osman led the team with 22 points on eight of 12 shooting, Collin Sexton and Larry Nance Jr. each scored 18 points while Alec Burks chipped in with 17 points and five assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 47 percent from the field and just five of 23 from the 3-point line as they fell just short after rallying all the way back from a 12-point third quarter deficit to tie the game in the final minute. With the loss, Cleveland dropped to 8-29 overall and 3-16 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 8-1 ATS in their last nine road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Cavaliers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on three or more days rest and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win.
Head to head, the under is 15-5-1 in the last 21 meetings in Cleveland, the Heat are 5-2 A TS in the last seven meetings overall but just 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings in Cleveland.
The Heat have quietly been one of the form teams of the league while the Cavaliers are still stuck at the bottom of the standings with just one win in their last nine games. The Heat are 8-1 ATS in their last nine road games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games overall so I expect them to bounce back with an easy win over the shorthanded Cavaliers who haven’t been able to buy a win lately.
